PETALING JAYA: PPP senior vice-president Datuk Maglin Dennis D’Cruz said his appointment meant PPP’s position in the Government “has been restored”.
“I am very happy and will give my best. This is for the betterment of the party. I thank Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for giving the position to PPP.
“I also thank my president Datuk M. Kayveas for entrusting me to hold a position for the party,” said D’Cruz, who was appointed as Deputy Information, Communications and Culture Minister effective Friday.
D’Cruz will be sworn in as a Senator today.
On the possibility of bumping into sacked PPP leader Senator Datuk T. Murugiah, who was not dropped as Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, D’Cruz said he would not talk to Murugiah, and that he did not like working with “party traitors”.
Kayveas when contacted, thanked Najib for including PPP in the Government as it showed the Prime Minister was confident PPP was intact and doing fine.
“We have given Maglin, our de-facto deputy president, an office at the party’s headquarters to help him balance both jobs,” he said, adding that he only recommended one name to Najib.
On Murugiah not being dropped, Kayveas said: “It does not concern us.”
